A Little Like Lost
The popular TV series Lost is the story of the survivors of a plane crash, struggling to find their footing after being stranded on a Pacific island. In the first series, a mysterious creature is introduced that makes strange noises at night and confuses the survivors, making them scared. Well there's been some weird sounds in the middle of the night on Lot's Ait recently (and, for what it's worth, it's around the full moon!).
I was making a cup of tea after getting home from work the other night and the front door was open. Just as the water began to bubble, I heard some loud rustling from the bushes. Shrugging it off as a large rat, I poured the water and brewed the tea. But then I heard something falling over- it sounded like a board of wood- and the sound appeared to be coming out of the workshop on the island. I went out to investigate, forgetting to bring a torch, and entered the workshop where, sure enough, a plank that we had stacked against the wall had fallen over.
After looking around some more, I found nothing so went back to Flamenco. As I sat and sipped the tea, more sounds were happening. Movement, and when I listened carefully, there was some deep panting.
Ok, so it's obviously a fox. A human couldn't be so subtle as to disappear each time I went out to explore. And why would a human be panting? But, then again, why would a fox be panting as deeply as the sound?
And it's been going on for a few nights now. Movement, and some of it not sounding as if a fox was capable of it, such as the sound of a metal pole being dragged across the hard floor of the warehouses. Whenever I investigate, even with a freshly batteried MagLight, there's no sign of anything untoward and the sounds cease.
I'm not a believer in werewolves, but...
