Bruising

Posted by Michael Edmondstone on Aug 15, 08 09:08 AM in Bloggers

I was walking home along Brentford high-street late last night, after having watched the new Batman film and a young lady approached me, asking if I've, "Got a spare cigarette, darlin'". She was clutching something to her face- at first it looked like a phone.

But as she got closer and she stopped for a chat, she explained that she'd just left her boyfriend's house after he got angry with her and beat her. She removed her hand and an ice-bag from her face to show a shining burgundy bruise that was swollen like a tomato over her right eye.

It was impossible for her to open her eye. I asked her if she's gonna see the man again and she assured me that, "No, no way. He's gone. Hopefully I'll never have to see him again".

Her parting words were, "I'll be fine, I'm tough, but pray for me on your way home".

We'd like to hear from you.
