Bullseye- a Watchdog!

Posted by Michael Edmondstone on Oct 2, 08 04:10 PM in Bloggers

This morning set me with a dilemma. Walking to Gunnersbury I saw a beautiful dog off the lead. Like a Husky and an Akita, it had a thick white coat, solid build, alert, triangular ears and a long tail gracefully curved over its spine.
I went to pet the animal and the owner appraoched. I told her what a beautiful creature it was and she agreed but told me she has bad asthma and needs to find a new home for Bullseye the Russian Samoyed.

Carlos and I have both been thinking about getting a dog. Clearly they're a huge responsibility and commitment. And a dog like a Samoyed- bred for reindeer herding in freezing Siberia- would need plenty of exercise. It would be a major decision to take it on.
But the idea's tempting. Not only is a good pet great company, but a good dog would provide Flamenco with protection. Another benefit is the body heat- Siberian herdsman traditionally slept with their Samoyed on top of them to stay warm.
So I'm ringing the lady at the weekend. Try and get her to come to Flamenco so that she can see the living arrangements and whether she thinks it would be fair on Bullseye. I'll tell her my working hours and we'll decide if I can make enough time to look after the animal well.
A watch dog and canine friend is too tempting to turn away!

We'd like to hear from you.
