Green Dragon's alive with the sound of music
The sound of music will ring out through the halls of a Brentford school today as pupils enjoy free classical music tuition.
Green Dragon Primary School, in North Road, has always provided music tuition, but in the past there was a high charge involved.
That was until the school received a government grant last September which promised a musical revolution among pupils.
The school received 60 classical instruments, including, cellos, clarinets, violins and trumpets, and every child in Year 4 was given the opportunity to borrow an instrument free of charge for a year.
Now all 60 children have chosen to continue with their regular Thursday classes for another year, with 60 new Year 4 pupils also starting tuition.
Deputy head teacher Jane Buck said: 'We are delighted to have expanded our children's skills and interests by offering music to so many children, completely free of charge. Our next step is foreign language teaching for every child."
