Daredevas: A fresh and adventurous take on traditional dance

Daredevas, -- the showcase for up and coming dancers, arrives at Watermans to kick off the new 2009 season.

Daredevas features the brightest young talents in contemporary Indian dance and is a rare opportunity to see the finest emerging artists for dance under one umbrella.

British-based with international roots, these artists provide a fresh take on traditional Indian dance styles, showing a mix of bold and adventurous choreographies. Artists featured for this performance, are Archana Ballal, Hanna Manila, Kakoli Mishra and Seeta Patel.

The Daredevas format will comprise of a programme of eight short solo works performed by four dancers. Styles range from energetic traditional Bharata Natyam and intricate extensions of Kathak to contemporary dance and creative fusions of various Indian and Western dance forms.

Daredevas is an adventurous take on classical Indian dance forms that sets the stage on fire and continues to re-interpret traditional repertoire and vocabulary of this art form in challenging and exciting ways.

Performance time is one hour plus interval.
