Dog rescued from Gunnersbury Lake

A Brentford hero jumped into ice cold Gunnersbury Lake to rescue a dog which fell victim to the big freeze.

Kaye Wotherspoon told how she watched Ian Clarke jump into Gunnersbury Park's frozen lake on Monday evening to rescue an Airedale Terrier which had fallen through the ice.

"He was about 10 feet from the edge of the lake and the owner and her children were just stood there watching," said the 58-year-old.

"He was so brave, a real hero, he took his shoes off and waded right in to save it.

Kaye of Lionel Road was walking her dog when she came across the trouble, but this isn't the first time she has found something unexpected in the Brentford lake as she discovered a dead body floating in the waters seven years ago.
