Mind on Art - an exhibition of art work created by the art group from MIND in Ealing & Hounslow

The Mind Action Centre, Art and graft project is held at Hanwell Community Centre and is run by Mind in Ealing and Hounslow. This is a mental health charity for anyone affected by mental health problems. Their work is to be exhibited at Watermans in a show entitled, Mind on Art.

The art group which is run by a professionally qualified volunteer provides a space where members can express themselves through art. The group brings meaningful activity into the member's lives and also provides an opportunity to socialise. Members enjoy experimenting with different media and often discover undiscovered talents.

"Our group is made up people who refuse to be beaten. We may have been through, or still be going through, some very difficult times but we are determined to challenge this. We are determined to express ourselves in a positive way and create beautiful art," explains Jules Tennick coordinator for the project.

We also work together as a group to choose our topics and arrange exhibitions to allow others to view our work. Their exhibition themed around the concept of 'mind over matter' at the Waterman's, named by the members themselves, gives them a sense of pride and achievement and allows them to feel a part of the wider community.

Mind on Art runs from Wed 4 Feb - Sun 1 March
