Wouldn't it be great if there were alternatives to war? There are! Quaker peace workers will be talking about Peace Child International and other projects which attempt to prevent conflict before it happens. These are part of the Quaker run peaceworker scheme to boost organisations working for peace.

The head cocktail mixologist at a Brentford bar has proved he knows his Singapore Slings from his Sangrias after winning two prestigious competitions.

Within the past two months, Rod Eslamieh, 32, who works at The Old Fire Station Bar and Grill in Brentford High Street, has won the London heat of the international Jack Daniels Cocktail competition and the Pepsi RAW National Cocktail Competition.

The event on Friday, September 25, sees Roy Hill take to the stage as well as Phil Martin and The Brentford Belles, all in aid of St Paul's Parish Open House Cafe.
