Shakespeare and Afghanistan Come To Brentford

Posted by Lima Curtis on May 23, 12 03:19 PM in

A GREAT feast of languages will be on the boil at Brentford Library next week.

Authors Stephen Landrigan and Quais Akbar Omar will be speaking about their book, Shakespeare in Kabul, which details their experience of staging Loves Labour's Lost in Afghanistan using a local troupe of actors.

The play was performed in Dari language and was the first time in over 100 years that both men and women appeared on stage together.

The actors adapted Shakespeare's prose to their own tradition of epic poetry.

The talk will take place on Monday May 28 at 7pm. Tickets are £1 each and available from Brentford Library.

We'd like to hear from you.
